The Sisyphus Blog Podcast List

I started listening to podcasts five years ago, back when I worked an office job. Working an office job means you need something to keep your mind distracted from the monotony of daily work. Podcasts are the perfect thing to do so. Over the years, I’ve dropped some and picked up others. Here is a list of the main 5 that I currently listen to.

1. The MartyrMade Podcast

The MartyrMade podcast is done by Darryl Cooper, a recently “retired” (now doing podcasting full time) employee of the United States Department of Defense, Cooper is one of the most well-read people you will come by and does a fantastic job of weaving together a historical narrative from all the books he has read. He has done a series on the Israel-Palestine conflict and Jim Jones of Jonestown. Each episode goes deep and is anywhere from 2-5 hours long. My favorite episode is The Underground Spirit, a 5 hour look into the parallels of Nietzsche and Dostoyevsky.

(Darryl also has a Substack where he releases exclusive podcasts. Absolutely worth the $5 a month if you enjoy his stuff)

2. The Joe Rogan Experience

Surprise surprise. I listen to the Joe Rogan Podcast. Not much to say about it since there’s a good chance whoever is reading this also listens to JRE, but it is one of the first podcasts I listened to back in 2017 and Rogan continues to have interesting guests on. A ton of great episodes: Jordan Peterson, Michael Malice, Chuck Palahniuk, Gad Saad, Joey Diaz, Eric Weinstein.

3. Jocko Unravelling

Jocko Willink and Darryl Cooper do a history podcast together where they break down, well. how things “unravel”. While I enjoy some of Jocko’s main podcast episodes (Jonny Kim episode is great), a lot of episodes are too military focused for me. The Unravelling is usually a 90 minute exploration of humanity throughout history—with a focus on the darkness. Some good episodes are A People Drowning, A Melting Pot On Boil, and Operation Nemesis.

4. The Jordan B. Peterson Podcast

Jordan Peterson is a clinical psychologist who focuses on Jungian psychology, religion, narrative, and pragmatic ways to enhance the lives of individuals. In his podcast he discusses a wide range of topics with intellectuals, religious scholars, and people in politics. Episodes to check out are: The Immortality Key, Psychedelics and the Ancient Age and Tyranny, Slavery and Columbia U with Yeonmi Park.

5. Lex Fridman Podcast

Lex Fridman is a computer scientist, artificial intelligence researcher, and a master interviewer. Lex does interviews like no other. Usually about 3 hours of dialogue with scientists, martial artists, or whoever else Lex is interested in. Check out his episodes with Michael Malice, Eric Weinstein, John Danaher, Robert Breedlove, and Tim Dillon.
